Phil Hunter
Vice President
Phil grew up in California's remote Channel Islands where he nurtured a love for the ocean. After earning a degree in marine biology, he began his journey guiding and teaching people about unique ocean ecosystems to travelers young and old. Phil has been guiding in the world’s most remote regions for the last twelve years, and is grateful for every chance he has to get outside to witness our planet’s most stunning locations.
He is a veteran of over 100 trips to the high latitudes, including expeditions to Antarctica, Alaska, Eastern Greenland, and Svalbard. During that time, Phil has expertly led guests through some of the most technically challenging seas in the world, both in sea kayaks and powerboats. He is now a co-founder and expedition leader at Arctic Tern Expeditions, a company dedicated to providing conscious, life-changing travel experiences. Phil’s passion for the sea is equaled by his passions for wildlife photography and ecosystem dynamics. He is keen to piece together the mosaic of our natural world, weaving together narratives that he hopes will spur people to engage with the spectacular world around them. Phil’s passion for the ocean and years of experience in the field make him knowledgeable and enthusiastic about providing access to ocean education for our youth who might not otherwise get the opportunity to learn about it. |
