The Polar Oceans is a virtual expedition course that brings the polar regions to the fingertips of students around the globe. ​

​Dive into topics like climate change and conservation through the lens of the fastest changing regions of our planet: the oceans at our planet's poles.​

Earn a Scholarship to Go on a Polar Expedition! 

• ​OYA believes in fostering the next generation of young ambassadors for the polar regions and our planet. 

• Students who complete the course will have the opportunity to earn a scholarship to visit these places first-hand on an OYA-sponsored expedition.

 

• These scholarships, available to students aged 14–18, will be awarded to exceptional applicants following submission of the course's final project and an interview process.

Exceed ​Key Educational Standards

• Embark on a 10-module curriculum that draws connections between pressing environmental issues, the polar regions, and the lives of the students that take the course—all while providing captivating content about the charismatic animals that live there.

• Each of the 10 modules has been specially crafted to fit seamlessly into a variety of curriculum structures- from STEM, NGSS, GCSE and even IB requirements. 

 

• Two different course versions available:
  - Middle School: Ages 10–14
  - High School: Ages 14–19

• Support for Educators Every Step of the Way — Teachers are provided a custom learning handbook to facilitate effective content delivery. There are also options to include a supplemental workbook for students as either an e-workbook or paper version to support different learning needs.
